Skip counting

I am learning to skip count in 5s.  Next I will be try skip counting on from a number.

Reading Eggs

I am learning to recognise digraphs and blends so I can read the sounds that two letters make.  Reading Eggs helps me to reinforce my learning.

" Reading Eggs helps me by teaching me how to type fast and read the book at the end of the quiz." said Indie

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself. 

" I am good at finger spaces now. My stories are amazing and I can write 'amazing' and other words. I have got to try not to rush it." Indie

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!

I am learning to sound out 3 letter words.

I am learning to say the first, middle and last sound in a word and then blend the sounds together to write the word.  This can help me in my reading and my writing.

" I can sound out letters because if I get mixed up I sound the words out. I can miss out the word so I can read back and work out the word." said Indie

I am learning to write number sentences to 10 and use this knowledge, when I play games, to solve problems in my head.

Mrs Worsfold," You did an excellent job of showing your family everything in our room! They sure had a lot of fun playing the maths game with you."

We are learning to write for an audience and publish quality work to share.

We are learning to copy a rhythm.

We had a fun music lesson and we learned to clap the rhythm of our names and copy patterns.

Indie said, " I was really, really clever at Music today. Mrs D gave me a certificate. Only 2 people got certificates."

I am learning to place a sentence in order.

I am learning to construct a sentence, reading it as I go to make sure my reading makes sense.

"I can sound out my words and I can robot my words." said Indie

I am learning to make patterns to 5

Indie you are able to recognise patterns to 5 using concrete materials.  We are now going to work on instantly recalling these patterns to 5.

"I can make the pattern to 5 and now we are learning to count to 100 on our whiteboards."said Indie

Elm park 50th Birthday Party

We launched our Celebration Inquiry with a huge party for Elm Park School. This year our school will turn 50! We had a great day with our school friends and our whanau

Indie said, "It was great. We had lots of funny games with the teachers and a treasure hunt and ice blocks and cookies and we did the parachute with Keely's class. That is our buddy class."

I am learning to form my numerals correctly.

I am learning to write my numbers around the right way.  I am able to write up to 20 correctly but I am working on identifying all the numerals.

" I can count backwards from 10.  I need to remember 6" said Indie

I am learning to find words that end with the same rhyming sounds.
I am learning to make a pattern of my own.

I am learning water safety

I am learning to enter and exit the pool safely.

I am learning to glide on my front with a flutter board.

I am learning to float on my back with and without a board.

I am learning to manage myself and get changed independently.

The whole class got a lot quicker at getting ready!
